New.Track.Mixes.

Life. Crazy. Busy. etc. But I updated five track mixes (side bar) with five tracks:

Idiot Pilot - To Buy A Gun (5MB), from 2004's Strange We Should Meet Here. Indie duo sounds like a cross between The Blood Brothers and Radiohead. Via their official website.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Ain't No Easy Way (3.6MB), from 2005 's Howl. One of my favourite rock bands, from new album. Via InSound.

The New Pornographers - Use It (4.8MB), from 2005's Twin Cinema. Canadian Indie pop fun. Via Matador Records.

Denison Witmer - East From West (3.9MB), from 2005's Are You A Dreamer?. Has collaborated with my favourite, Sufjan Stevens, and is on rising indie label, Militia Group. Brilliant folk sound.

Denison Witmer - California Brown And Blue (5.9MB), from 2005's Are You A Dreamer?.

Thinking of cutting down the content of the site to only on mp3s and live gigs stuff.

Video and Torrent Links

Here's some video and torrent links of interest, I love Koufax and the video for their first single, Why Bother At All, is brilliant. One of my personal favourites and music buzz man of the year, Sufjan Stevens, is currently on tour with his cheerleading music crew, the Illinoisemakers, in the United States, to promote his album, Illinois (currently my favourite album of the year), and there are some torrents and videos from the shows he's played. Below is some links to them.

[Video] Koufax - Why Bother At All (Quicktime) via Doghouse Records.

Music Recommendations Week 05/08/2005

So, here's a stack of music recommendations for you music-hungry kiddos:

Mason - You Were Supposed To Be Beautiful
From West Palm Beach, Florida, five-piece outfit Mason, sound like a cross-between The Blood Brothers and Taking Back Sunday with the craziest, insane "scream-o" vocals. I'm not a fan of screamo / hardcore but this album is amazing, punk rock that works and these kids are going to go far.
Official Website
Download Track #7: Tricks Are For Kids (3.9MB) via their official website.

Mason - Just Shake Hands EP
Mason's debut EP cannot be ignored and the tracks below have been invading my playlist all week. Also amazing.
Official Website
Download Track #2: Us (3.3MB)*.
Download Track #3: We Don't Talk About Tom Buchanan (3.6MB)*.
*Via their official website.

Minus The Bear - Menos el Oso
One of the coolest indie pop bands, Minus The Bear, return with their second full-length album, Menos el Oso. So catchy, guitar riffs that cut and features cameos from Judah Nagler and Josh Staples (from The Velvet Teen), Michael Richardson (from The New Trust) and Heather Duby. Download the first two tracks from the new album below.
Official Website
Download Track #1: The Game Needed Me (3.8MB) via InSound.
Download Track #2: Memphis & 53rd (2.6MB).

Todd Deatherage And The Sixes - Todd Deatherage
Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Todd Deatherage's record is jazzy country alt-rock with a hint of Ryan Adams, which is no surprise as he's worked with Whiskeytown multi-instrumentalist Mike Daly for his last EP. He has toured with Wilco and Brendan Benson and his self-titled record is great pop/rock; check out four mp3s from that album below.
Official Website
Download Track #1: Everyday Is A Fight (2.3MB)
Download Track #2: Linger On (3.5MB)
Download Track #3: Undone (3.1MB)
Download Track #4: Out Of Line (3.2MB)

Page France - Come, I'm A Lion!
One of the most beautiful albums I have ever heard.

Featured "past" music recommendation:

Spoon - Kill The Moonlight
Spoon are one of my favourite bands and Kill The Moonlight is one of my Top 5 Pop albums of all-time. Download the mp3s below to see why. Stay Don't Go and Jonathan Fisk are two of my favourite tracks and are also offered for download. The band will be in Adelaide on September 10th at Fowlers Live and tickets are $34 from Venuetix.

Triple J: Feature Album Of The Week

Z-Trip - Shifting Gears

Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, LA-based DJ Z-Trip, has released the hip-hop debut of the year. Shifting Gears includes cameos from Lyrics Born, Soup (Jurassic 5), Busdriver, Chuck D (Public Enemy), Supernatural, Murs and Chester Bennington (Linkin Park). I'm not a huge fan of hip-hop but this record is strong, well-produced and catchy as hell. Download my personal favourite track, Breakfast Club, to hear what I mean.

Starting today, you get to hear all the tracks from the album at various times for 1 week on Triple J, which you can listen to live online here.

Bonus mp3:
Download Track #10: Breakfast Club featuring Murs (3.4MB)

The album will be released on Sunday, August 7th.
