Music Recommendations Week 05/08/2005

So, here's a stack of music recommendations for you music-hungry kiddos:

Mason - You Were Supposed To Be Beautiful
From West Palm Beach, Florida, five-piece outfit Mason, sound like a cross-between The Blood Brothers and Taking Back Sunday with the craziest, insane "scream-o" vocals. I'm not a fan of screamo / hardcore but this album is amazing, punk rock that works and these kids are going to go far.

Download Track #7: Tricks Are For Kids (3.9MB) via their official website.

Mason - Just Shake Hands EP
Mason's debut EP cannot be ignored and the tracks below have been invading my playlist all week. Also amazing.

Minus The Bear - Menos el Oso
One of the coolest indie pop bands, Minus The Bear, return with their second full-length album, Menos el Oso. So catchy, guitar riffs that cut and features cameos from Judah Nagler and Josh Staples (from The Velvet Teen), Michael Richardson (from The New Trust) and Heather Duby. Download the first two tracks from the new album below.
Official Website
Download Track #1: The Game Needed Me (3.8MB) via InSound.
Download Track #2: Memphis & 53rd (2.6MB).

Todd Deatherage And The Sixes - Todd Deatherage
Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Todd Deatherage's record is jazzy country alt-rock with a hint of Ryan Adams, which is no surprise as he's worked with Whiskeytown multi-instrumentalist Mike Daly for his last EP. He has toured with Wilco and Brendan Benson and his self-titled record is great pop/rock; check out four mp3s from that album below.
