Band Plug: The Grates

If you are in Australia, and haven't heard of The Grates, where have you freaking been? Patience Hodgson (vocals), John Patterson (guitars) and Alana Skying (drums) are The Grates, hailing from Brisbane and whose sound is like the whole fuck-you-punk-rock-no-rules, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Go! Team with a girlpunkmesh. Or something. Their E.P., The Ouch. The Touch., was released on February 14th, with the catchiest tracks like Message (currently hitting the airwaves at Triple J) and Trampoline (which was recently used in a Just Jeans ad).

The Grates have finished an Australian tour lauching their E.P. and are getting ready for their support tour with Death From Above 1979 and Wolf & Cub in the east coast. After that, they'll be heading off to the UK, USA and Canada for some tours (and some with fellow Australian gem, Sarah Blasko). If you're from those countries, check them out and you'll love them. Tour dates here.
